Art Outside

Building Awareness and Engagement with Public Art in Miami Beach

2020

web design and development • content strategy • content design • art direction and graphic design • copy writing and editing • media and partner relations • grant writing

Conceived amidst a global pandemic, Art Outside began as an iterative public art exhibition in Collins Park, featuring public works from the collection on view surrounding the museum. Eventually, we brought on partner attractions and collections throughout Miami Beach to participate with their public art already on view. The budget for the project was non-existent, but a way to recontextualize public art throughout the city, and package an outdoor art experience ideal for social distancing, during a time that the museum space was physically closed.

I worked with the designer on my team to develop the custom logo and branding for the exhibition, including promotional signage, digital advertising, and exterior wayfinding. I also designed, built, and managed the microsite linked below during my time at The Bass using Google Sites. I coordinated with all partner organizations, building an interactive map using Google Maps, writing promotional copy and editing curatorial text, creating a press kit and media release, securing local and industry coverage, and producing all  wayfinding signage. My role also included securing funding for the project, establishing branded sponsorship opportunities, writing grant proposals, and creating messaging and video content for the project’s Kickstarter campaign.

Although many of the original partner sites have since taken down the initial works included in the exhibition, you can still access the website containing a smaller selection of partners, linked below. You can also view the full press kit I developed for this project.
