A Sampling of My Work Across Various Roles and Projects

2010-2024

graphic design • art direction • creative direction • printing

I began my undergraduate career as a BFA, taking studio art classes in ceramics, drawing, and photography as well as introductory art history courses. Although I was a dedicated art student, it was clear that my interest in writing, history, and research lent itself better to a double major. Accepted into the honors program of the School of Communications, I discovered a talent for public relations, strategic communications, and creative advertising. After taking one required visual communications course, I took a particular interest in graphic design and photography, joining the year book as a layout editor, becoming advanced in Adobe Creative Suite through upper-level digital design and photo manipulation courses, and volunteering as a dark room lab monitor.

Fast forward to 2018, and I began teaching as an adjunct professor at my alma mater with some of my former instructors in the creative advertising and strategic communications departments. For six semesters, across three years, I taught both in-person and online courses in graphic design and visual communications to undergraduate PR and advertising majors. The following highlights are a sampling from my design portfolio over the years, spanning school coursework and self-developed lectures, full-time roles creating content while also leading teams of designers, my own solopreneur endeavor, and various projects as a freelance contractor.

SonderMind Brand Re-imagining & Exploration
2024

Tasked with making the brand bolder and more differentiated, visually, but without doing a full rebrand, I built and coordinated a team of freelance designers, animators, and illustrators to embark on this assignment. In three months, we've explored the beginning of a refreshed aesthetic and identity for the decade-old startup and are working on the updated visual style guide, stewarding the brand into a new stage of growth.

LaVela Design Co.
2020-2024

In 2020, I began a hobby of making candles that evolved into an affordable, sustainable, and quality home fragrance brand. As a solopreneur, I make and execute everything for LaVela, including the visual identity, packaging, and website.

FreshArt.Education Microsite
2020-2022

I designed, built, and managed this website for several years while freelancing for Fresh Art, also using Google Sites. I also wrote most of the copy and created the report for a grant application (image linked to the full PDF).

The Bass Rebrand
2016

Positioned as Miami Beach’s contemporary art museum, my team and I developed a new visual brand identity, collaborating with design studio Project Projects (now Wkshps)–encompassing a new logo, name, and overarching style guide. I worked alongside a graphic designer on my team and hired a NYC-based PR firm, SUTTON, to reposition the museum from a small regional exhibition space to an international contemporary art destination alongside a rebrand and museum building renovation. By appropriating a moniker long used by locals, the “Bass Museum of Art” became “The Bass,” and the new logo exemplifies this transformation. In addition, we launched a new website, and redesigned way-finding markers throughout the new space. Throughout my time, I served as creative director for our team, leveraging my graphic design background to develop all promotional, curatorial, and educational content, including video, digital media, and print.

Fresh Art INTL Research Guides
2020

I created the layout for these two digital publications with InDesign, establishing a template for other designers to work from for additional publications. I also created the custom "research guide" logo. Both images are linked to the full PDFs.

Tutorials for STC 102
2018-2020

These are a selection of working demos and lesson plans I created and used in the courses I taught for several years. The magazine layout is linked to the full PDF. The campaign collateral specifically featured a lesson on photo manipulation.

ArtOutsideMB.org Microsite
2020

I designed, built, and managed this website during my time at The Bass using Google Sites, to support a collaborative outdoor public art exhibition. I also worked with the designer on my team to develop the custom logo and branding for the exhibition, including promotional signage and exterior wayfinding.

Print Collateral for The Bass
2017-2019

Although I managed a full-time designer and had a staff of freelance contractors, I often supported the team by designing collateral as well. I also served as the principal copywriter for these examples.
